When The Chain of Command Is Broken

Ellen J. Barrier

God’s Instructions to Follow The Chain of Command:
Teaching our children to “Do the right thing.”

Many parents have failed to do the above. If each generation had continued to teach their children to treat others the way they, themselves, would like to be treated (that is with respect), we wouldn't be confronted with the violence we see in the “Mirror of Society.”  The chain of  command has been broken. It was broken when parents neglected their parental duties.

Reference:

“But I Know him that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment.”
Genesis 18:19

God commands that every parent be a good  role model to their children. That means the parents are to teach their children by example:

Work, support them financially, take good care of them, educate them,  give them the moral support they need, being there for them, and teaching them, to understand what their priorities should be.

What happens  to Earth When the Chain of Command is broken?

When our children deliberately disobey us, we let them know that what they did was unacceptable. And they are grounded. God does the same thing for us when we disobey him.
He takes things away:

Draughts and storms takes away the vegetables and fruits and kills the livestocks, that supply our food. That  results in high prices at the supermarkets, due to lots of crops and livestocks got wiped out. It cause financial losses to those who grow them. Therefore, they have to recover their losses by charging more, so they can continue to grow their crops and livestocks.

Storms wipe out lots of structural property and destroy lives. The damages are tremendously costly. The insurance companies have to raise the premiums, to recover the loses of their insureds money they used to pay claims.

Like any child, when they are grounded, they often times are disappointed with the parents. And sometimes feels that the punishment is too harsh. But they understand that their parents loves them, and always wants  the best for them.

The punishment is to correct the child, so that they learn responsibility. That is the purpose for which God wants us to achieve, by accepting the responsible that he has given us to follow, The Chain of Command.

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I ,  Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Hebrews 10:5, 6, 7 (K.J.V)

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed
                                                           (1 Peter 2:24). K.J.V

Why Was Jesus Sacrificed for The Sins of The World?

The People of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy:  yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

And I sought for a man among  them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: But I found none.
Ezekiel 22:29, 30 (K.J.V)

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of host will perform this.

Love and Mercy

Ellen J. Barrier

"Love me when I least deserve it, because that's when I really need it". ~ Swedish Proverb
FinestQuotes.com

O GIVE thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth  for  ever.
To him alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever:
Who remembered us in our low estate:
Who giveth food to all flesh:
For his mercy endureth for ever
                                                        Psalm 136:1, 4, 23-25 (K.J.V)

God loved us when we didn’t deserve his love.  He had mercy on us. Though we were undeserving of his love, we needed it. There are parents who hold grudges against their own children, for something they did or said, that they didn't agree with. Such parents will punish their children by not visiting them or speaking to them. Holding grudges, divides families. Love, bonds the family. Hate, divides families. Holding a grudge against a family member, prevents loving them, when they need it the most. Life with Father in chapter 9  is about a family divided by alcohol and violence.  It shows us  how the love of a mother held this family together by her faith in God.

The Difference Between God and Religion

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

The difference between God and religion, is no comparison. God judges the human race according to his laws. He has the authority to carryout punishment in his judgment as to how, and when such punishment should occur.

Being religious, and taking upon one’s self to judge another individual or to punish such an individual for having committed an act that he or she feels is unrighteous, does not qualify judgment. No one is sinless.  Therefore, no human being, will ever qualify to take the position of God to punish another human being for their sins. Regardless, of how they may view the act that was committed.

God, has not given up his position nor his authority to hand down punishment upon those who reject his laws. One cannot take another individual’s life in the name of “Doing God’s Will”  while professing themselves to uphold God’s laws.

“Thou Shall Not Kill” means exactly what it says.
(God’s Law stated  in Exodus 20:13)

We are held accountable by God, for the words we speak and for the acts we commit. Words and actions do matter. Negative words and lies used to attack an individual’s character, produce harmful affects. They can destroy an individual’s character, and cause the loss of lives. They can also, cause the innocent to be imprisoned for a crime they didn’t commit.

“The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speak forwardness.”
King Solomon
(Proverbs 10:32)

* Forwardness-not willing to comply with what is right or reasonable.

Some religious people, are behaving shamefully. They are scornful, judgmental, and filled with hate. The words we use when communicating with others or when they are used in reference to another individual, describes our character. Our own words and actions speaks volumes of who we are. And clearly identifies a connection to God,  or a disconnection from him.

In the book of Psalm, King David , identifies the character of  both the connected individual, and the disconnected individual to God. He refers to their characteristics as ‘fruit.’ In the book of Galatians,
Paul also gives a description as "The fruit of the spirit."

The Character Of  the Connected Individual to God:
Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is  love,   joy,   peace,   longsuffering,   gentleness,   goodness,
faith,   meekness,   temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22)

Psalm 1

Blessed is the man (person) that walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bring forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not  wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

The Character Of the Disconnected Individual from God:
Galatians 5:19

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these:
Adultery,  fornication,  uncleanness,  lasciviousness,  idolatry,  witchcraft, hatred,  variance,  emulations.  Wrath,  strife,  seditions,  heresies,  envying,   murders,
drunkenness,  revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told
you in time past, that they which do such things shell not inherit the kingdom of God.

Conclusion:

Does one need to be religious to be successful or to have hope and to live?
The answer is  No.

From my very own personal experience - with testimonies of others, to be connected to God is awesome!
He provides greater opportunities with  hope.

Rewards:
Therefore, we rejoice in hope; patient in tribulation, continuing instant in prayer. Knowing that tribulations, produces patience, and patience, produces experience, and experience,  produces hope. Success and great achievements are additional accomplishments provided with hope.

God Reversed Paralysis Restored Speech & Memory After A Stroke

Shared: by Ellen J. Barrier
(Given in honor of my mother Arcilla Mason)

During the summer in which I graduated from high school, my mother was stricken with a stroke, causing paralysis to her right side-upper and lower extremities, including the right side of her head and face, and loss of speech and memory. She was comatose for several weeks. Her physicians informed us there was nothing else they could do for her. At this point, there were no signs of improvement. They said, "She will never walk again, go and purchase a wheelchair for her."

A few days later, prior to my mother's dismissal from the hospital, as I looked down at her small frame lying helpless in bed, the pain of sorrow I felt, is too unbearable to describe. I cried uncontrollably. Then, suddenly there was someone standing beside me, saying with authority and assurance, "This Sickness Is Not Unto Death."

Immediately, I stopped crying, This voice was not of this world. I have never heard anyone speak in that tone. Therefore, I trembled with fear. There was no one in the room other than my mother and myself. The door was closed. While shaking, I went out of the room to see if someone was at the door,  I  didn't see anyone standing in the hall. I then, checked on my mother, she was still comatose.

I sat down and tried to figure out this messenger. I had read in the bible about God and his Angels speaking to people, but I had never heard of it happening outside of the bible. I accepted the fact that this messenger was of God, because no human being could possibly speak in that tone, with that kind of authority and assurance.

I began to thank God, and praise him, then I stopped shaking. I told my family and the church members, along with our pastor, about my encounter. We all praised God for my mother's healing, because he had sent an Angel to let us know that he had heard our prayers!

When we took my mother home, from the hospital, there was no change. A few days later, she came out of the coma. She couldn't speak, and didn't recognize any of us. We had to care for her as one would care for an infant. She couldn't feed her self, nor could she move her right-side extremities. Therefore, she had to be turned. She required lots of care.

Two years later, without any physical therapy, my mother, was able to walk without a cane. She didn't need the wheel chair any more. She recognized us, and was able to speak very clearly. God showed us his power. And for that, my mother along with us, gave him honor and praise. He added twenty beautiful years to my mother's life.

The results of healing through prayers of faith are supernatural. They produce the results of miracles. The bible instructs us to let our requests be made known to God, through prayers and thanksgiving.

Children Are To Obey God In Their Youthful Years

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

References:
Ecclesiastes 12th Chapter

Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shall say, I have no pleasure in them; while the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars; be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:

In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, and the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of the music shall be brought low;

Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall floruish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: Because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

The Conclusion:

Let us hear of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Death and Destruction:
Revelation 6:8

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was, Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with the sword, and with   hunger,
and with the beasts of the earth.

How We Pray Determines How God Will Answer

Ellen J. Barrier/author/Spirituality Counselor

When we pray to God, and thereby, petition him, it is not within our judgment to analyze how or when,  he should grant our request. Or to use our knowledge, to interject  our opinion on the subject matter, that we are petitioning him about, when we are praying. Neither should we listen to others who are giving their opinions. We must stay steadfast in prayer and focus on the fact that, God is supernatural, and with him all things are possible.

Garbriel  said, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
St. Luke 1:37

In the case of Zacharias, he had been praying for a child. When God was prepared to grant his request, he used his knowledge to interject his opinion, which was irrelevant. And found out that this is a defiant act with God. And there is punishment that will follow. Because he didn’t believe that God was qualified to give him a child at the time God had chosen to do so.

Like most people, if the answer doesn’t come in the time they want it to, they give up. This is what Zacharias, had done. His mind wasn’t allowing him to look beyond the human’s educational process, and see the supernatural powers that God possesses.  Because he doubted God, he was punished. God took away his speech.  (St. Luke 1:21-25 & 57-64

Scripture: James 1:67

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like the wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man (person) think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.

Scriptures to Bring Hope
 Reference: Kings James Bible

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth  out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:3

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily  bread. And forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen
Matthew 6:9-13

But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
Mark 7:27, 28

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thou soul prospereth.
III John 2

There is nothing better for a man, (human) than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
Ecclesiastes 2:24

And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not plant and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them.
Isaiah 65:21, 22, 23

Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shall have plenty of silver.
Job 22:25

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Isaiah 65:24

Every man to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice  in his labor, this is the gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 5:19

For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matthew 7:8

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matthew 7:11

The blessings of the Lord, maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Proverbs 10:22

So  Shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
proverbs 3:10

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me, but ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee?
In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for  ye have robbed me even this whole nation.
Malachi 3:7, 8, 9

Bring ye all the tithes into the store house, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of host, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not  be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of  your ground. Neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field saith the Lord of host. All nations shall call you blessed;
Malachi 3:10, 11, 12

Behold, they shall surely  gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
Isaiah 54:15

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment
thou shall condemn: This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Isaiah 54:17

Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying the seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil toward thy brother, and thou giveth him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee. Thou shall surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when
thou giveth unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
Deuteronomy 15:9, 10

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come unto the waters, and  he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

When We Declare the End God Declares the Beginning

                                                                      Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

Case in Point:

Over the weekend, my husband and I were given another opportunity, to see God reveal his mighty power.

We have a huge garden. On Saturday, my husband showed me a large tomato plant. The root had been eaten off by a mole. I told him, perhaps he should replant it, because it might have a sprout on the root. He said he didn’t see anything that looked like a sprout. After checking, the gnawed off root, I didn’t see a sprout.

On Monday, we saw the plant laying on the ground. It had lots of sprouts and a root. Sprouts that we both know weren’t on the plant on Saturday. The plant was badly withered, but still had some life in the vines. The temperature had been extremely hot from early morning to late evening on these days.

We picked the plant up and planted it on Monday evening. This morning, the leaves and the stems are green.

Being that, God did that for a plant, he can certainly do the same for a person. Regardless, of what others say. And there are some who are quick to declare the end of a situation. They will declare the end to someone else’s marriage, relationship, life, career, and personal affairs. Some will go so far as to decide who they feel is going to Heaven or to Hell.

To these kinds of negative conclusions, there is no end to their decisions for the lives of others. These are the kinds of people one should not take advice from.

Wisdom:

For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.
Proverbs 8: 11, 12, 34, 35 (K.J.V)

For I am the Lord, that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26

God's Powerful Forgiveness

 Pamela Stoker-Nunley

        (Psalm 103:1-14)

1. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me,

    bless his holy name!

2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

3. Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,

4. Who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you

     with steadfast love, and mercy.

5. Who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that

your youth is renewed like the eagles.

6. The Lord works vindication and justice for all who are

     oppressed.

7. He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of

    Israel.

8. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and

    abounding in steadfast love.

9. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

10. He does not deal with us according to our sins,

nor requite us according to our iniquities, (dealt with us),

11. For as the heavens are high above the earth,

      so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;

12. As far as the east is from the west, so far does he

      remove our transgressions from us.

13. As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities

      those who fear him.

14. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

Why You Need To Stay Focused On God

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

The need to stay focused on God is to hear his voice, giving you the guidance, instructions and directions you need to be able to receive the things you desire. The things listed below, are all necessary, to receive from God the things we want.

Scripture:

And it shall come to pass, that before they call; I will answer, and while they are yet speaking I will hear. Isaiah 65: 24 (K.J.V)

You Need To Be In This Position:

Focused

Persistent

Determined

Steadfast

When those things are in existence, they bring God’s power into action, because they produce the faith that is needed within you, to release God’s power. It is that kind of faith that is commanding. It gives you the power to decree a thing and make it happen.

Command the Hands of God
Scripture:

Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
Isaiah 45:11 (K.J.V)

Decreeing Power:
Scripture:

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
Job 22:28 (K.J.V)

Definition:

*Decree, 1: one of the eternal purposes of God, by which events are foreordained.

2: An authoritative decision. 3: an order usually having the force of  law.

God's Mercy and Grace Saved My Life

Shared by Hazel M. Mason

When I was a young adult, I experienced a life threatening illness, resulting in an emergency surgical procedure. Prior to the surgical procedure, I was in severe pain for three days. The purpose of the surgical procedure, was to increase circulation to my heart. I received blood transfusions and intravenous fluids for several days. I made a promise to God, but failed to keep it. Yet, his mercy and grace spared my life.

God has said, "Without me you can do nothing." I had tried to live my life without him. During a one-night -stand, I got into some trouble. I realize I can't make it without God's protection. In my early thirties, I gave my life to Jesus Christ. Through him, I have overcome my challenges. I'm living a celebrated life.

The road hasn't been easy for me. I have overcome other challenges to my health, through the power of God's mercy and grace. I was diagnosed with a heart condition and wore a heart monitor and was on heart medication. I no longer need to take medication for my heart. I once lost the use of my right arm. God restored the strength in it.

My jaws have locked, several times, causing severe pain - leaving me unable to speak. But God's mercy and grace, gave me the power to defeat every challenge that attacked me.

Scriptures:
Casting all your cares upon him, for he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
St. Matthew 11:28

I Received Salvation

Shared by Dianne Malone

My family is very important to me. But more than even my children and grandchildren, is my relationship with Christ. The day I accepted the love of Jesus, and the Salvation, that only he could give - it was the greatest day of my life. I'll never forget the Sunday night, I was lying in bed, telling him how great and marvelous he is. All at once, I actually heard his voice say, "Say Abba Father." Not knowing what else to do, I started to speak as I, was told. I only got "Abba" out of my mouth, before I began to speak in tongues. (I was baptized in the Baptist Faith). My life has changed. I am a new creature. Christ is the head of my life. I give him all praise and glory.

Today

Accountability: The Price to Be Paid

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality

We are held accountable for the things we do, and say, by our creator. When we consider God's dealings with Miriam and Aaron, the relatives of Moses, how he held them accountable for the words they said in speaking against Moses for having married an "Ethiopian Woman", we should learn that, it is in our best interest, not to engage in negative conversations about other people, including our relatives.

Aaron and Miriam Condemned Moses' Marriage

References: K.J.B
(Numbers Chapter 12)

And Miriam and Aaron, spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian Woman whom he had married.
And they said, hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us?
And the Lord heard it. (now the man Moses was meek, above all the men which was upon the face of the earth.)

An the Lord spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. And the Lord came down in the pillar of a cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

                                          God Chastised Aaron and Miriam

And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him I will speak, mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord; shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
Note: God disagreed with Aaron and Miriam's judgement against Moses.

                                        God's Punishment Carried Out

And the anger of the Lord  was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and behold Miriam became leprous, white as snow:  Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold she was leprous.

                                             Aaron's Plea to Moses

And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my Lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein, we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Lord, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

                                          God's Response to Moses

And the Lord said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.
Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days; and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again.

Note: It can be clearly understood that Miriam's and Aaron's behavior caused a delay in the journey. When we look very closely at the destruction we see happening in the world, this let us know that both the righteous and the sinners often have to endure hardship together. However, the sinners suffers the most.

God's Requirements Remain the Same For All Generations

That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requireth that which is past.
And, moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there. I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
Ecclesiastes 3:15,16,17

The Battle is The Lord's Your Victory is IN Him

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

There are times when we are confronted by the forces of evil; be they sickness, financial distress, problems in a relationship, individuals causing discomfort in the work place, in schools and elsewhere. These are the times we must take our position, and declare that we will not allow ourselves to be defeated, because the battle is the Lord’s and our victory is in him.

We are in a spiritual warfare. One of which is growing stronger each day. There are times when wickedness attacks the innocents. There is no place that is off limit. Places that were once thought to be safe havens aren’t safe anymore. Evil visits the churches, homes, hospitals, schools, workplaces, and ways by which we travel; airway, upon the waters and upon earth.

We must re-examine our past experiences, when we faced previous challenges - And remember that God brought us through them victoriously. When we remember those times, we bring that needed strength, into our minds and into our spiritual being that produces the faith in God that releases his power!

Facing the Enemy with God’s Power

When David confronted his challenger, he drew strength from his past experiences with God. He re-examined his past. While attending his father’s sheep, on two different occasions, a lion and a bear attacked a lamb. He pursued him, and took the lamb out of his mouth, and slew him.

David credited God for having given him those victories. He stated, “Moreover, the Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.”

Speaking directly to his challenger, in the presence of an assembly of people who doubted that he would have any chance of a victory, due to the comparison of the two; David faced a man of war. His challenger was equipped with warfare material, sword, and spear. He was the height and size of a giant. Whereas, David was small in size and had a sling and a stone. And, was still a child, with no experience other than what he stated, “And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.” God, didn’t fail David. He came through for him and gave him victory. When the challenger, arose and drew near to meet David, he quickly ran toward the army to meet him, and took a stone and slang it, and it sank into his forehead and he fell upon his face. Then David ran and stood upon him and took his sword and drew it out of the sheath thereof and slew the challenger with his own sword.

Psalm 23
By: King David

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

God Gives Strength In Times Of Distress

Shared by Gladys M. Hayes

I have been living with a needle in my right knee for many years. The doctors discovered it from X-rays taken  after an injury from a fall.  It has caused lots of pain and swelling in my leg, since I fell. But through prayer, the pain is becoming less noticeable. This too, shall pass.

I am happy to report to you that, God is my strength in times of needed help. I have had to depend on him for strength to live from day- to- day. I have a very serious heart condition. When I was a child, I was stricken with Rheumatic fever. The fever, damaged the valves in my heart and weakened them. After, I tell you more about my heat condition, you will understand, why I believe God gives strength in times of distress.

My heart:

1995:  I suffered a heart attack
1996:  I suffered a heart attack
1998:  I suffered a heart attack

On a day that started out beautiful, in the year of 1998, that day became cold and very unpleasant for me and my family. When we received the news that my grandson Dumund, had been killed, it broke my heart and caused great pain and sorrow in all our souls. Dumond, was very special. He was planning his future like most very young adults do. He had a job, and was planning on buying a car. My husband and I raised him. He called me, "Big Mama." He was presently, living with us, at the time of his death.

Dumund's death was senseless. His life was taken from him, at the hands of another young man, with a gun in his hands that he had no business with. A gun that reportedly was taken from the home of an adult, who should have taken the responsibility of keeping his weapon secured. Too many families have had to face the pain of loosing their children and other family members, at the hands of young people, who got possession of  guns. But, God sends an Angel to strengthen us at the time, when it seems the burden of having to accept a loss is too much to endure.

Scriptures:

No, in all these things, we are more than conquers through him that loved us.
Romans 8:37

For his anger endures but for a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night. But joy comes in the morning.
Psalms 30:5

No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper: and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgement, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.
Isaiah 54:17

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2 Corinthians 10:4

And Moses said unto the people,  Fear you not. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them no more for ever.
"The Lord shall fight for you.  And you shall hold your peace."
Exodus 14:13,14

The Danger in Resisting God's Messenger

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

Event as Told: St. Luke 1:5-25 & 57-64

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in  the order of his course, according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

*And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

God Sent Gabriel To Give Zacharias a Message:

And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the alter of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him,

“Fear not Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard: and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and, and thou shall call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Zacharias Question Gabriel and Expresses Doubt:
                (The results were punishment)

And Zacharias said unto the angel, “Whereby shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.” And the angel answering said unto him, “ I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed,  because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

The People Witnessed The Curse The Angel Placed upon Zacharias:

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.
And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, “ Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among  men.

Elisabeth Give Birth To John As Gabriel Had Said:

Now Elisabeth’s full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. And her neighbors and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and  they rejoiced with her. And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. And his mother answered and said, “Not so; but he shall be called John." And they said unto her, “There in none of thy kindred that is call by this name.”

Zacharias Speech Return As Gabriel Had Said:

And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, “His name is John.” And they marveled all. And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

The Christian Soldier's Duties

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality counselor

The Christian Soldier is fully equipped for battle. This soldier is clothed in spiritual armour for warfare.

God has prepared his soldiers to do warfare against demonic forces. "Rulers of the darkness of this world" and "Spiritual wickedness in high places. They are the 'Powers' that are behind the violence and wicked acts that are played out worldwide.

He has given his soldiers a command to educate his people, and to be watchful for Satan's craftiness. These Soldiers have been clothed in spiritual armour for warfare - to fight against the evil forces of Satan's craftiness, that he uses to trick those who are not aware of his plan, to steal their souls. It is the duty of the men and women of God, to deliver his messages to the people, so they can receive the spiritual education - they need for their souls. He gives his angels charge over his soldiers, to assist them in their positions on the battle field of spiritual warfare. This is "The chain of command" in action: From God the Father and Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to his Angels to his Soldiers   (Ministers & Teachers) to the People.

*The duties of the people, are to pass the spiritual education messages, to their children. And to live their lives by following the spiritual education they have received - that will help them to be good parents and role models in society.

The Christian Soldier's Armour For Warfare

Scriptures: Ephesians
Chapter: 6:10-18

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to with stand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all , taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:
Praying always with prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance  and supplication for all saints.

Scriptures To Bring Comfort In Times Of Distress

Ellen J. Barrier

Hebrews 4:14,15,16

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 13:15,16
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Hebrews 12:2,3
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.

The Mirror of Society

Ellen J. Barrier

Violent Behaviors Concern Doctors
               (Doctors seeking a cure)

We are living in a society filled with anger and hate. These two things have created an unsafe era in which we live. If we could look into the mirror of society for a few minutes, the things we would see, would be too troublesome, and we would probably, walk away. The media gives us a small fraction of the things that are actually happening.

Imagine, if you could see everything that are happening, including the secret places that the media don’t know about, where disgusting and inhumane things that are too horrific to watch occurs. The question would be, “How can such evil things happen?

Here are some examples:

*A 70-year-old partially blind woman was butchered in her own home. She was throttled with her dog’s leach, stabbed and slashed 86 times, then stomped and scalped. Her attackers were two 17-year-old females.

*Father was brutally killed and the mother was seriously injured by their 20-year-old son. The father’s injuries: one eye torn out from its socket, liver ripped, ribs broken, head, chest and stomach badly beaten, and a bitten right index finger. The mother was hospitalized and treated for her injuries.

* A 33-year-old mentally retarded man was brutally murdered by two teenage males who entered his home. They pinned the man on the floor of his bedroom and beat him with their fists on his head and stomach. After which, they chased him out of his home, down a narrow dirt path into a steep ditch. There, they beat him with a wooden slat and other objects. During the attack, one of the man’s eye balls were knocked out. One of the teenagers joked after the killing and said, he could put his finger in the missing eyeball.

*A 33-year- old woman was brutally beaten and killed while a crowd of people looked on and cheered: She was involved in a minor car accident. Three men in a car rammed the woman’s car forcing her to stop.

* Three 8-year-old boys were kidnapped from their neighborhood and murdered.
The 3 children were ridding their bikes at the time of the kidnapping.

* A group of teenagers out looking for a fight, spotted a 16-year-old and his friend, and started chasing them with bats. During the chase, the 16-year-old  fell. He was grabbed by his chasers and beaten with bats. Some of his chasers held him up, while others took clear swings at his head, fracturing his skull in several places. He died from those injuries.
Witnesses to this incident, called for help within a period of 40 minutes.

*A 12-year-old girl was sodomized with a tire tool, choked with a cord, beaten unconscious, and her legs were sliced with a knife. Then, her teenage female attackers soaked a blanket in gasoline, and threw it over her body and burned her alive.

Doctors Seek Cure For the Epidemic of Youth Violence

In July of 1993, an Atlanta doctor began leading a new public health battle by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention-a radical effort to control youth violence. The top expert for the CDC, said "Kids are  killing kids and we think it's a fact of life in this country." He further stated, "But, people thought smallpox was a fact of life then, but it's been eradicated from the face of the earth. The doctor further stated, "There are things people can do to stop violence. We are going to discover them on the basic of science and not politics." According to source, the CDC spent $6 million to learn what puts children at risk and how to lessen the chance they'll pick up a weapon at the first sign of conflict.
