Patience is The Pathway to Opportunity

Ellen J. Barrier/
Author/Spirituality Counselor
Patience is the path to opportunities. We gain patience through prayer and meditation. Within that vein, we never consider ourselves having failed. We see something greater ahead through the hope within us - that if we continue pushing forward and never looking back to consider, what if? why? and listening to negative advice, but trusting in God, who can make all things happen for our good, VICTORY! is ours.
Scripture:
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Hebrews 10:36

Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragement, and impossibilities: It is this,  that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.
 ~ Thomas Carlyle

Because of the lack of patience, many people don't complete their goals. If success is not achieved within a short period of time they will give up, and start on another goal. To train for a career or a job, one has to have the patience to receive the skills that are required to do the requirements correctly. That could take several months or years to require the proper training needed to avoid mistakes that could be costly or cause injuries or death.

Patience is necessary in having a successful relationship. Meeting an individual today and trusting them to be the soul-mate, one desires, is not logical. Some people become impatient while waiting to meet someone who they can have a trustworthy relationship with, and therefore, they aren't willing to allow both - them and the person they have met, enough time to get to know each other. The quick relationships, can be dangerous.  It takes more than one day to get to really know if you can trust an individual to have any kind of relationship with, be it friendship, or romance. The mind of an individual is very difficult to understand, because people can be great pretenders. They can disguise themselves to be everything that you want them to be, and yet they are the opposite of everything you thought they were.

Success and Prosperity

Ellen J. Barrier

God’s Plan for Your Life
“ For I know the plans I have for you, “ declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
JEREMIAH 29:11 NIV

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 John 2 KJV

Question:
Why are there so many who are in poverty, and sick?

God has promised his people financial success and prosperity. Yet, there are many who are living below their privilege. No child of God is supposed to live in any way that is contrary to the promises of God. To do so, would make his promises of no effect. The Word of God states, God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19

According to Matthew 7:11, Jesus said, our Father, which is in Heaven, gives good things to them that ask him. Those good things are health, financial success, prosperity, and security among, other things one might desire for complete happiness.

When we look at the shortcomings of these promises, we have to take a look at the reason why, they aren't being fulfilled. That leads us to explore further: What does God require of us? Are we meeting all of his requirements?

When we closely examine our own lives, we find that we need God, to help us meet his requirements, to receive his promises. Parents have conditional promises for their children. Children aren't rewarded when they deliberately disobey their parents. There are rules we expect our children to follow, because we love them. We want to give good things to them. It is our desire for them, to be successful, and have a prosperous life. Those are our promises we make to our children. However, these promises have to come with a condition. God want that same thing for us: His desire for each of us, is to be in perfect health, and to be successful in everything we do, and to be whole in our mind, body, and soul. That means to be completely happy.

A Place Called Hell

Ellen J. Barrier/
Author/Spirituality Counselor

For those who ask "Is There such a place called Hell?" I have noted scriptures from the bible that I hope will answer this question,  along with another question that is asked, "Why would God send people to Hell?"

Based on the writers description of a place called, "Hell" that is talked about in biblical terms, I have noted those things in this book, from the information I have read. Hell is not a subject, that most people feel comfortable talking about. No one ever says it is a place they want to see. Because the thought of Hell, and the description of it is a very horrible place where - those who have been condemned and sentenced by God, will spend eternity.

Scriptures:
"Hell" also, called the "Pit"

I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Hell with them that descend into the pit:

They also went down into Hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
 Ezekel 31:16:17 {K.J.V)

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these:

Adultery,  fornication,  uncleanness,  lasciviousness,  idolatry,  witchcraft,  hatred,  variance,  emulations, wrath,  strife,  seditions,  heresies,  envyings,  murders,  drunkenness,  revellings,  and such like.

They which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
 Galatians 5: 19-22 (K.J.V)

Love and Mercy

Ellen J. Barrier

"Love me when I least deserve it, because that's when I really need it". ~ Swedish Proverb
FinestQuotes.com

O GIVE thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth  for  ever.
To him alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever:
Who remembered us in our low estate:
Who giveth food to all flesh:
For his mercy endureth for ever
                                                        Psalm 136:1, 4, 23-25 (K.J.V)

God loved us when we didn’t deserve his love.  He had mercy on us. Though we were undeserving of his love, we needed it. There are parents who hold grudges against their own children, for something they did or said, that they didn't agree with. Such parents will punish their children by not visiting them or speaking to them. Holding grudges, divides families. Love, bonds the family. Hate, divides families. Holding a grudge against a family member, prevents loving them, when they need it the most. Life with Father in chapter 9  is about a family divided by alcohol and violence.  It shows us  how the love of a mother held this family together by her faith in God.

What to Do When Exercise is not Enough

Ellen J. Barrier/
Author/Spirituality Counselor/Medical Professional

The Apostle Paul clearly believed,  there are benefits for the body through exercising, but more is needed to fully benefit the whole person.  Paul stated “For bodily exercise profiteth  little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
1Timothy 4:8

Paul being a well educated man, who spoke several languages, knew that something far greater was needed. In order for a person to be complete and to have a healthy body, a healthy diet, and a healthy mind is needed, along with a good exercising program.  When a person only exercise, eat unhealthy foods, and have no spiritual consciousness they will tire quicker, and their stress level will be higher. These factors will deeply affect this individual's behavior. Due to negative factors that produce stress and can  plague the whole body, so much more is needed, in order to live peaceful and have a healthy mind, body, and soul.

One can't live peaceful within any environment, unless he or she is at peace within themselves. All these things have an affect on how such an individual treat others. Will they be able to have a successful relationship? Will they be a good parent? Can such an individual control their temper?

How Can We Help Ourselves?
It takes more than exercise, a beautiful body and knowledge, to make us whole and acceptable to God. How can we obtain wholeness? The first step is to understand our need for help on a spiritual level, of which only our creator can help us with. And that is to realize that without him, there can never be any good in us. We are all capable of committing sinful acts, because we can't obtain perfection. It is a goal, we set within our mind to achieve, always pushing ahead, though we may fall occasionally, we get up! and keep going because perfection is our goal and God is our judge.

Scripture:
Yea, If thy criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searcheth for her as for hid treasures;
Then shall thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
For the  LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2: 3-6 (K.J.V)

The Danger in Holding a Grudge

Ellen J. Barrier/
Author/Spirituality Counselor

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
FinestQuotes.com

Grudge  ___ a feeling of deep-seated resentment or ill will; syn. see malice
Malice ___  desire to see another suffer:  to cause pain, injury, or distress to another. 2: intent to commit an unlawful act or cause harm without legal justification or excuse.
(Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary)

Scriptures:
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another,  tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s  sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians  4:31, 32 (K.J.V)

Having viewed all these things regarding the term used for the definition of malice, and the instructions given by the forefathers of the Word of God, who taught the people, who came before us, have left the same instructions for us to pass on to our generation and those to come –  I have concluded these feelings of my thoughts on malice:

Holding a grudge, is malice, it weakens an individual, and disallows room to forgive.  It preys on the mind of such and individual and grows as a terminal disease, until it consumes that individual’s entire body, mind and soul.  The individual is unable to think soberly because they are consumed with bitterness, anger, wrath, and evil thoughts of plans to destroy someone else.

Such people will hold a grudge against their very own flesh and blood.  There are reports of some family members who harmed others due to a grudge they had against them. I know of one particular case of some family friends. This couple ‘married out of their own race’ and the mother of the bride, didn’t approve of their marriage.  And to pay her daughter back, she never visited this couple, and didn’t accept their children as her grandchildren.  This is a grudge that hurt and destroys family relationship.

The spirit of malice is demonic, it brings in other spirits and dwell within an individual - taking over in the form of multiple personalities. They weigh down such individual, and can cause depression and stress, leaving the human tired and worn-out with  serious mental and health problems.

The Strong Shall Survive

Ellen J. Barrier/Author/Spirituality Counselor

"The qualities of a great man are vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character."
~ Dwight David Eisenhower
     Finestquotes.com

Scripture:
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Romans 7: 18

The things we find in greatness are vision, integrity, courage and understanding. Those who possess these fine qualities, also, have power of articulation, and profundity of character. However, there is a spiritual foundation that is needed for such characteristic values to exist, that is strength. Without it, greatness can’t exist.

We all want to obtain greatness and to perform that which is good, as both writers stated in the quote and, in the scripture. But, how can we possess all these qualifications: goodness, vision, integrity, courage, understanding and profundity of character?

Scripture:
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God;
but with the flesh the law of sin.
 Romans 7:22-25

Conclusion:
In order for us to possess goodness, greatness of character, and have vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character, we must find the spiritual strength through Jesus Christ.
